The development team at Bungie says that it is implementing a number of features in the upcoming Destiny which are specifically designed to limit the impact of toxic behavior on the part of players.

Chris Butcher, a technical director working on the game, tells Edge that, “I don’t think you can ever design toxic behaviour out, you can’t ever stop players from being toxic but what you can do is prevent them being able to ruin other players’ experiences.”

Bungie is creating a set of tools that will encourage gamers to be nice to each other even as they compete in the game.

Destiny is a shooter at heart but the game also includes a deep social system that will allow player groups to interact with each other.

The game is set to launch in 2014 on the PC, current-gen consoles, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
