Gamers will have to work with limited tools

The long-awaited update 1.1.1 is now out for Destiny, but the developers working on the social shooter are not resting on their laurels and they are already willing to talk about an entirely new game mode, called Inferno, which they are aiming to launch on March 3 in order to give players an entirely new Player versus Player experience.

The Weekly Update offers details on the companion app for the title, which gamers can use in order to enhance their playing experience, but the focus is squarely on the new game mode, which is designed to test new types of player skills.

Leif Johansen, a senior designer at Bungie, says that Inferno will be about basic gameplay and about using limited resources to achieve serious objectives and will first arrive in the Control flavor.

Guardians who will take part in the new PvP mode will no longer have access to the tracker, which means that map knowledge and awareness will be much more important and will also reduce the impact of Super and Heavy abilities gamers use a lot in Destiny.

The scoring for Inferno is also being simplified, objectives are captured faster than before, less heavy ammo is offered, and gamers will need to rely more on their own reflexes and skills.

The map which will be part of the rotation for the new mode are: The Anomaly, Firebase Delphi, Twilight Gap, Rusted Lands, Shores of Time, Blind Watch, Asylum, The Burning Shrine, The Cauldron and Pantheon.

No info yet on the House of Wolves expansion for Destiny

The new Weekly Update from the development team is not offering any sort of information on the House of Wolves expansion, which Bungie has already said it plans to deliver at some point in the second financial quarter of the year.

A new set of leaked images linked to it has appeared, but there's no concrete information about the exact changes that will be made to Destiny.

The expansion is set to deliver about the same amount of content as The Dark Below before it, which means a new end-game raid and more strikes are planned.

Gamers will also have an increased level cap for their Guardians and there are also more weapons and items for them to use.

New environments for Destiny will arrive in another bigger expansion later in the year.
