Developer Bungie has announced that Destiny’s servers will go live on Monday, September 8, at 12:00 PM GMT / 7:00 AM EDT / 4:00 AM PDT.

Anyone who is in possession of the first-person shooter will be able to start playing at that exact time, including the press reviewing the game. The developers have said that when each and every player will be able to enjoy the game is between them and their retailer of choice.

If you aren’t part of the fortunate few who will be able to start playing a little earlier than the game’s official release date of September 9, you can always turn to Twitch to help you with the wait, as there will surely be an abundance of early streamers.

The game is sure to make waves, coming from Bungie, the makers of the legendary Halo franchise, and promising exciting gameplay and a solid sci-fi story to explore.

The first-person shooter combines traditional gameplay with role-playing elements, having three different classes that can level up to 20, gaining access to new and unique abilities to make use of during engagements.

In addition to this, the extensive loot system is likely to please a lot of shooter fans, if the reaction to the one found in Borderlands 2 is any indication.

The game’s beta test proved everything to be working fine, with the overall gameplay experience coming off as very polished and engaging. Due to the fact that over 4.6 million gamers took part in the testing phase, there shouldn’t be any hitches with the infrastructure when the game launches.

Publisher Activision managed to create a lot of hype around Destiny, and for good reason. The genre blending promises an exciting and varied gameplay experience, and so far the devs have been pretty secretive about the main story, aside from the fact that you are part of an elite force that is trying to save mankind’s last city from alien invaders.

Destiny is incredibly large in scope, delivering an experience similar to that of a massively multiplayer online game, set in an interesting science fiction universe coming from the creators of another wildly successful sci-fi shooter franchise.

Furthermore, Activision’s plans are to make Destiny into its third billion-dollar franchise, alongside Skylanders and Call of Duty. This means that the game will get top-notch support and a lot of content additions over time, with the first scheduled to drop no later than this December.
