The PlayStation Store listing for Destiny has been updated with a warning concerning storage space, saying that the new online shooter needs a whopping 40GB of hard drive storage and that the amount could increase depending on updates and DLC.

Destiny is set to debut this September and a special alpha stage already impressed PS4 owners from around the world last month.

Now, ahead of the game's beta test phase that's going to kick off on July 17, the PS Store listing for Destiny has received some fresh information about the game's actual size.

Sony warns on its marketplace that at least 40GB of space are needed for the upcoming shooter.

"40 GB hard drive storage (or its equivalent) is required. Additional storage may be required for some updates and features. Storage requirements subject to change," it said.

It's unclear if the same requirement is valid on both the PS4 and the PS3. It's quite possible that the PS3 edition is going to require less space, as it won't have high-end textures and its visual effects won't require that many extra things.

As of yet, Bungie hasn't revealed anything about the game's install size on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.
