Weapon and armor abilities buff certain skills and provide bonuses

Bungie explains that Destiny, its recently-launched first-person shooter, gets players to try out different weapons and build variations by the random loot it offers as reward for completing different missions, quests, or challenges.

Destiny is a multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience that, similar to RPG games, offers loot in the form of armor or weapons that have randomly generated stats, depending on their rarity.

Exotic weapons have key benefits

Of course, more exotic weapons in the legendary tier, for example, come with various properties that are designed to completely change how a class can be played and to get players to shift their preferences and character builds.

"Some Exotics provide unique modifiers that might change which abilities you focus on, creating new ways to be effective in cooperative and competitive play. It’s all about options and personal optimization," the studio explains on its blog.

"As players make their way through Destiny they are going to find out what types of weapons, talents and stats they prefer when gearing their Guardian. Thinking about it in terms of Arsenal and Builds is a simple way to start to explore Destiny’s depth."

In terms of Arsenal choices, players can favor Pulse Rifles and Assault ones, but getting a pulse weapon with a full auto mod or a field scout one that extends the ammo capacity and magazine can easily get the player to use one over the other.

Class builds can be quite varied

In terms of builds, Bungie admits that some characters have various possible builds that become quite good only towards the end of the game, when more abilities are unlocked. Until then, players will stick to something that can be easily used.

"Builds continue to progress long after players have completed the last Story mission. A bunch of the synergies found within a given build don’t come online till late in this build – like the Fireborn Sunsinger doesn’t actually earn the Self-Resurrection power till very late in his progression."

Exotic armors also come with special talents that can further enhance subclasses, like the Grenadier for the Titan, so players should certainly be ready to switch up their play style and preferences, depending on the gear they find.

Bungie has already emphasized that Destiny's real adventures begin after players reach the level 20 cap, and the random gear plays a big role in giving fans incentive to continue their experience after completing the main quest and reaching the highest possible level.
