There are also changes made to the Crucible

The development team at Bungie announces that the much waited patch 1.0.2 for Destiny is now live and that from now on the system linked to Engrams has been modified in order to make it more fair to players and guarantee that they get access to better equipment to use.

The official announcement states, "Legendary (purple) engrams will always produce a Legendary quality item or higher. Note: Legendary engrams that exist in your inventory will change to Rare quality items when the patch is applied. However, decoding these engrams will still produce the same results as before."

Rare Engrams will deliver a rare quality item or better and changes of legendaries are increased across the board.

The Tiger Strike Playlist for the Vanguard, the Daily Heroic Missions and Weekly Heroic Missions also offers increased changes to pick up Engrams in Destiny.

Bungie adds that the Crucible has also received some changes, "Reduced time limit on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash from 15 to 12 minutes, bringing them in line with non-vehicle maps in those playlists. Lowered weighting on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash so they appear less often in those playlists."

Destiny is a work in progress

The team at Bungie says that all the changes it is making to Destiny are based on the feedback coming from the player base and that all the action is tracked in order to make sure that all imbalances are solved as fast as possible.

At the same time the studio is working on an expansion for the social shooter, called The Dark Below, which is set to be launched on all platforms before the end of the year.

Fans have already datamined the game files in order to see what it has to offer and some have accused the developers of actively withholding content in order to be able to charge for it after launch.

Bungie says that the accusations are unfounded and that it is still working on the DLC packages.

Gamers who have reached level 20 and have completed the story mode of the game can until then test their skills with strikes or they can choose to fight their fellow gamers in the Player versus Player mode.

Both Bungie and Activision have said that Destiny represents a new game universe that has a ten year life plan already, although it's unclear how much support the current experience will get before the team switches focus on a full sequel.
