Bungie, the developer of the upcoming Destiny first-person shooter, has revealed that the new title is close to getting ready for launch and that its development hasn't been affected by the recent departure of Audio Director Marty O'Donnell.

Destiny is set to debut in September as a multiplayer-only first-person shooter with a persistent online world and with a lofty goal of enduring for 10 years across the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.

However, earlier this week the game's development was rocked by the departure of longtime Bungie Audio Director and veteran Marty O'Donnell, who revealed that his position had been "terminated without cause."

According to Bungie Chief Operating Officer Pete Parsons, the game's development hasn't been affected and it's actually close to being ready for shipping.

"I believe people will be transported not just by the activities and the stories within the Destiny universe but by the sights and the wonderful sounds and music," he told Eurogamer. "We have a fantastic team. We're pretty close to shipping. There's a lot of polish left to do, lots of tweaking and tuning, but a lot is already complete."

Bungie has previously confirmed that it's now in the bug testing phase and it should be ready to deploy a beta test for Destiny in the following months, ahead of the game's actual September 9 release.
