Bungie emphasizes that its upcoming Destiny multiplayer-only first-person shooter is built to support every type of player that might enjoy the game, as the studio doesn't want to make anyone feel like they're being left out.

Destiny is the next big project from Bungie, the studio that gave Xbox owners the hugely popular Halo franchise of first-person shooters.

Destiny is still a first-person shooter but it merges that with a persistent online world in which players can engage in all sorts of activities, from story missions to exploratory ones, not to mention competitive PvP encounters or cooperative ones.

However, Bungie emphasizes that all types of players will find something to do in Destiny, as it doesn't only want to cater to competitive and hardcore fans, like it did with the Halo games over the years.

According to one of the studio's representatives, who has talked with NeoGAF members, the Halo support strategy upset gamers and some of the developers, so things are changing with Destiny.

"We think we did a decent job supporting Halo, post launch, but we were only ever able to cater to the competitive set. That left a lot of players out in the cold. That made a lot of the team grumpy. We wanted to do better," he says.

As such, Bungie started developing Destiny with an emphasis on keeping it as open as possible, so that all sorts of players will have a great time with it.

"So, Destiny is philosophically built support every type of player, and all modes with ongoing activities and events. We look at it quite a bit like television programming, as opposed to a singular film, as we had in the past."

The representative also highlights that such a strategy may not have been seen in the recent beta phase as Bungie used the test to make sure that quite a few other things work as intended ahead of the game's actual release.

"We think it's going to be pretty great, but we wanted to test out a bunch of our new stuff with Beta, to make sure we could flip knobs and levers live, reacting and responding with lots (and, ho boy, did we see LOTS) of players online and playing. Beta was water wings. Level 8 is nothing. You barely scratched the surface, and it seems like some folks had fun with what was there."

Destiny debuts worldwide on September 9 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms.
