Instanced loot is the best system for the multiplayer shooter

Bungie has confirmed that there won't be a shared loot system in its upcoming Destiny online shooter, as the company wants to implement an instanced loot system, similar to Diablo 3, in which each player, even if he plays with others, gets his own items that can't be seen or picked up by others.

Bungie's Destiny promises to deliver a multiplayer-only experience that not only consists of different competitive and cooperative matches but also tells a story about the game's universe.

Like with any online mode, Bungie took a hard look at the loot system and its COO, Pete Parsons, told Polygon that the loot is instanced in the new game.

As such, while playing with or against others, each player will be rewarded with different loot that can't be seen or accessed by others.

According to Parsons, this should eliminate thieves, who swoop in to get all the best gear, and arguments about what player should get which item.

What's more peculiar, however, is that players won't receive loot for any other character class than their own.
