Just guns and skills will be employed, apparently

Destiny could receive a brand new game type for the Crucible competitive multiplayer mode, according to a fresh Grimoire card that’s been uncovered by one player and claims that the fresh Inferno experience relies just on player skills, eliminating extras like Super abilities, bonuses, or trackers.

Destiny launched back in September and promised to deliver a top-notch multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience that's composed out of a special story mode that can be played with others cooperatively and a Crucible competitive multiplayer experience.

The end result, however, failed to impress all that many people, as the story mode was lackluster and the competitive experience quickly got inundated with veterans that wielded their powerful weapons and abilities to perfection, beating everyone in the process.

Inferno is coming to Destiny

It seems that developer Bungie has noticed this and is preparing a special game type for the Crucible called Inferno, according to a Grimoire card found by a Reddit user.

According to the description found on the game's website, the Inferno game mode combines various aspects of other match types, in order to test the Light wielded by players against the "darkest of conditions."

Only skills and weapons count in the new experience, as players can't rely on their various abilities, from the Supers specific to each Guardian class to the trackers that spot players on the map or other bonuses.

"Darkness prevails, leaving Guardians to rely on their weaponry and combat skills alone. The enemy can only be found by sight and sound alone. Rely on your teammates and keen tracking to stalk your enemies and shut them down without the trust in your most powerful abilities. True skill put to the ultimate test. No trackers. No Supers. No bonuses. Only kills earn points," the card says.

Bungie isn't commenting on it

Bungie, as of yet, hasn't commented on this new report, so it's unclear just what it plans to add to the Crucible competitive multiplayer in order to spice things up and allow for other elements to play a deciding role in the matches, not just abilities.

The studio released last week the first premium expansion for Destiny, in the form of The Dark Below, which added quite a few new story missions, a fresh raid, and many other things, including maps for the Crucible mode that can be played in all existing match types.

Expect to see some form of announcement in the following week, ahead of the winter holidays.
