The game might finally be available for testing later this spring

Bungie, the developer of the hugely successful Halo series and of the upcoming Destiny, has confirmed that it's now entering the final eight weeks of creation for Destiny and that, in May, it might finally offer the beta stage for those who pre-ordered the game.

Bungie's Destiny was hyped beyond measure before its reveal last year as an online franchise that would last for 10 years.

The actual game is a multiplayer first-person shooter that not just thrusts users into all sorts of online matches but also fleshes out a dynamic world that changes depending on what players do and don't do.

The game is set to launch on September 9, and Bungie has confirmed that a beta will debut before then, in order to test out the multiplayer servers as well as the actual game.

Now, as part of a new weekly update on its website, Bungie has said that it's finished the internal testing of big mechanics like Raids and that it's now entering the most important eight weeks in the game's development.

"These next eight weeks are where it all comes together," the studio said, before emphasizing that it's not actually the period before the game launches, as that still happens in September.

"This great time of reckoning will not be the end of our journey. If you’re thinking you’re two months from seeing this game on your shelf, I’m still here to ask you to put on the brakes. The next phase awaits, in which you’ll be invited to launch head-long into the world we’ve constructed, like a test pilot clad in exotic armor."

As such, it's pretty obvious that the studio is going to debut the beta version of Destiny sometime in May for those who pre-ordered the game.

These beta testers will be allowed to stream their sessions via Twitch and other such services, and Bungie even teases that the most popular ones will play a role in community events in the future.

"We will do far more than allow you to share your glorious war stories from the frontier. We’ll amplify your voices, if they are brave. Some of you will even be selected to play a role in our stories, as we go to war with (and against) our community in the wild for the first time. That will be as glorious a moment for us as it will be for you. Destiny, after all, is a thing to be shared," the studio said.

Last but not least, Bungie has also confirmed that the videos and screenshots from Destiny showed until now aren't reflective of the visuals in-game, as they've received quite a few upgrades recently.

Destiny launches on September 9 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
