Today, wireless carrier Vodafone Australia and mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced officially the upcoming exclusive availability of HTC Desire HD on the operator's airwaves in the country.

We already knew that HTC plans on making the new high-end smartphone available for purchase in the country in the near future, and it seems that things were already made official.

Moreover, HTC and Vodafone also announced that the new HTC Desire HD would land on shelves in Australia only for Three & Vodafone customers.

The new announcement is in line with what the duo unveiled officially in mid-September, when the HTC Desire HD was made official along with the Desire Z.

“VHA is excited to be the exclusive carrier for the HTC Desire HD, an outstanding and stylish Android device that brings further strength to our current Android range,” Ross Parker, General Manager of Devices and Pricing said at the time.

“We look forward to providing our customers on Vodafone and 3 such a highly anticipated, powerful device,” he added.

At the same time, Vodafone unveiled officially that the new HTC Desire HD would be available on its network for free on the $59 cap, the guys over at Android Australia state in a recent article.

As the news site notes, the exclusivity Vodafone got on Desire HD would most probably result on Desire Z being pushed to the other wireless carriers in the country.

The new Desire HD includes a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a powerful 1GHz processor, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with flash, auto focus and video recording capabilities.

A wide range of connectivity features have been also packed inside this device, such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as GPS receiver, or a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

On top of that, the new mobile phone runs Android 2.2 Froyo, and sports HTC's new Sense solution, complemented by the HTCSense.com portal.

Unfortunately, Vodafone did not put the HTC Desire HD on its website for the time being. Keep an eye on this space to learn when it does.
