Matt Webling a product manager from NVIDIA's design team talked about the Designed by NVIDIA program and gave some details about their newest initiative. Designed by NVIDIA, motherboards are the best in class motherboards designed by GeForce and nForce engineers and sold by NVIDIA partners. The GeForce series of products Designed by NVIDIA will be optimized to work with the nForce series of products.

Designers from both the departments get together and design the motherboards from the ground up, including the positioning on the components on the PCB for better connectivity and heat dissipation, also the series of motherboards include hardware support for future GeForce graphics cards. NVIDIA is a fabless semiconductor company; they specialize in the design of hardware devices and outsource their products to a manufacturing third party, or better said, parties.

The 680i SLI based motherboards unleash features like FirstPacket, MediaShield, nTune, and the BIOS is designed to take advantage of all of these features that were included in the construction of motherboards based on this chipset. When you buy a Designed by NVIDIA motherboard you have the advantage of having all of the features available on the motherboard exposed, meaning that manufacturers can't hold back some of the features, or hide BIOS options from the end user, which in term represents the insurance of having a quality product.

NVIDIA's engineers will now be present on manufacturing lines to supervise and make sure that the standards demanded by NVIDIA are respected. Some of the manufacturers that are going to supply Designed By NVIDIA motherboards include eVGA, BFG, XFX, and others. Complete systems are also available from VooDoo PC, Alienware and Falcon Northwest. The latest motherboard available in the Designed by NVIDIA initiative is the 680i LT SLI and will be priced under $200 giving superior performance at a low cost.
