Apple's Fifth Avenue store is iconic. The New York City location has become a symbol for Midtown and a sign of modernism. The glass cube designed by Bohlin Cywinsky Jackson houses a cylindrical glass elevator and a glass spiral staircase to the underground store.

According to Patentlyapple, the Cupertino tech giant applied for a trademark for this store back in August of 2010. That trademark is still pending, but today Apple received a patent from the USPTO.

The structure of the Glass Cube is linked to Steve Jobs and his passion for creating something truly unique. The same building had another patent awarded back in 2007 for the famous glass staircase. Steve Jobs was one of the inventors for that.

Apple has also got two new Liquid Metal related patents. These are not actual parts for iPhone or iPads, but an invention that has to do with a vessel for melting material and retaining molten material.

Apple is already using Liquid Metal in their iPhone and iPad for the SIM card trays ejector. It was long rumored that the company may extend that to the whole phone or tablet.

Liquid Metal is an amorphous metal alloy that combines a good number of features, including excellent corrosion resistance and anti-wearing features. It can be heat formed into any shape, similar to plastics. One of the advantages of Liquid metal is that it cannot get scratched.
