Descent|OS, a Linux distribution currently based on Ubuntu and utilizing the GNOME 2 desktop environment for functionality, is now at version 3 Alpha 2.

According to the developers, Descent|OS 3 is aiming for August 29th as a release date. Until then, a lot of packages have been updated in the present development version, and the MATE desktop environment is working without major problems.

There are still a small number of problems with the current Alpha release, as expected. The Plymouth theme needs to be changed, and the Ubiquity installer slideshow is not working properly yet.

Download Descent|OS 3 Alpha 2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development release and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended to be used for testing purposes only.
