A new solution made available on the market the past week permits the deployment of applications and programs on Windows operating systems without any installation whatsoever. Furthermore, InstallFree Bridge also permits users to
centralize not only Windows software but also entire desktops and makes the solution available on both 32-bit and 64-bit copies of Windows XP and Windows Vista. The key is virtualization.

"In today's complex computing environments, application and desktop maintenance represents a significant portion of the IT budget," said Yori Gabay, Co-Founder and CEO of InstallFree. Via InstallFree Bridge, the company is permitting IT administrators to not only manage and deploy virtual applications, but also enjoy flexibility and security Windows desktops as well as reducing the total cost of ownership.

"We estimate a cost savings of approximately 35 percent to 45 percent when switching from an unmanaged desktop or laptop to InstallFree. The technology offers IT directors an easy-to-use interface to centrally manage and deploy virtual applications while maintaining a high level of security and providing end users the full experience of working with their personalized applications in any location with no limitations," Gabay added.

What InstallFree does is provide a virtualized environment complete with both the resources needed to run the software but also the applications. In this manner, there is no need for InstallFree to integrate with XP or Vista, or to modify the registries. But more importantly, via InstallFree, users will have the possibility to enjoy a completely mobile desktop.

Microsoft itself is working on a mobile Windows operating system that end users will be able to take with them on a USB key, through the StartKey project. But InstallFree Bridge is one step ahead and is already enabling end users to access encrypted InstallFree Virtual (IFV) programs independent of their actual locations from machines in hotels and even kiosks. This is because all the IFV applications can be made available across the Internet, a local network or even on a USB key.
