It seems that some soldiers wounded in Iraq melted Denzel Washington's hear. Denzel was visiting the specialist burns unit at the Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio with his family when he heard there weren't enough Fisher House facilities. After he asked about the costs, Denzel decided to write a check cheque.

"He wrote a check for the full amount right there on the spot," a source a source told the New York Post, and added:

"The question I have is why do Madonna, Sean Penn and other Hollywood types make front page news with their anti-everything America crap and this doesn't even get reported?"

I just finished reading an email telling of the generosity Denzel Washington expressed to our soldiers during his recent visit to the Military Hospital in San Antonio Texas. His compassion and willingness to give hit me hard. I still have tears in my eyes as I write this. I am a veteran (U S Army 1977 - 1980) and regardless of the politics of war, I know that no soldier has control of their destiny while serving their country. I believe that our veterans are encouraged and gain hope by acts such as the one Denzel recently displayed toward our veterans and their families. Not everyone can afford to be as generous as Mr. Washington, but the next time you see a young person out in public in uniform having lunch, walk over and thank him/her for what they are doing to protect our freedom and if you can afford it pay the check. Our veterans need us and we need them. Thanks to all in uniform and thank you Mr. Washington.

Respectfully Yours

Denzell and Pauletta

From a retired Soldier, thank you for appreciating the Military member and family. Your dedication and selfless service shall not go unnoticed and you all are a true inspiration to families who are going through the healing process. So thank you again.

Stay encouraged

I was wounded 15 OCT 2005, near Baghdad while serving as a platoon leader in the Unites States Army. I spent several weeks at BAMC getting put back together, during this time my wife and children stayed at the Fisher House during my recuperation. If not for great patriots like Mr. Washington many soldiers would go it alone while suffering from combat wounds. This is due to the huge economic burden placed on families to put there lives on hold to care for thier hurt Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.

Mr. Washington's generosity is paralleled by his performance as one of the best actors I have ever been privelaged to watch on the big screen.. I only wish I had the opportunity to thank him in person, he is truly one of my heroes.

Captain Morgan, U.S. Army
