If you are a user who knows how to appreciate the difference between desktop speakers no bigger than your hand and an audio/video hi-fi system with amplifier and tower loudspeakers, then you?ll be amazed by the performances of today?s gadget (if you can call it that).

Although many of you will be enthusiastic with the Denon AVC-2920 amplifier (via akihabaranews), we have to admit we were baffled by the specification list and the humongous number of jacks.

The amplifier from Denon, a company with a reputation among music lovers, gives you the possibility to hook up a 7.1 system, 110W per channel (8 ohms), which amount to an impressive 770W.

But this is not the most important feature of this amplifier, because the device supports the 1080p HD (high-definition) standard and it features a HDMI (High-Definition Multi-media Interface) port. The advantages of a HDMI connector is that it offers audio and video in a single cable, and the transmitted data are uncompressed.

For those who don?t speak the complex jargon of engineers, 1080p is the shorthand name for a category of video modes. The number 1080 stands for 1080 lines of vertical resolution, while the letter p stands for progressive scan or non-interlaced.

Other specifications of the Denon amplifier include the 32 bit Sharc CPU and AL24 Processing Plus.

The price for such a monster is 800 Euros, or $953.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
