14 DAY TRIAL // If you ever wanted to eat or wondered how an ice cream sundae with maple syrup would taste like with plenty of crispy bacon in the mix, Denny’s has just the thing for you. The Maple Bacon Sundae is now available for a limited period of time.
The new “treat” was premiered as part of a feast called “Baconalia,” through which Denny’s aims to bring back to people’s attention the importance of bacon, as its name also implies.
The idea is to have as many products usually made without bacon, now improved with the wonder ingredient and available for sale for a limited period of time.
“Bacon makes a classic ice cream sundae even more awesome. We start with maple flavored syrup, and a scoop of rich, creamy vanilla ice cream and then a generous sprinkle of our diced hickory-smoked bacon,” a post on the official website, introducing the sundae, says.
“Add another sweet layer of syrup and vanilla ice cream topped with even more bacon and a drizzle of syrup,” reads the same post.
In other words, the sundae is different from any other ice cream sundae in that it contains pieces of crispy fried bacon on top.

“Very little is known about the origins of Baconalia. But from what bacon scholars have pieced together from strips of ancient texts, it was one heck of a bacon lovefest,” Denny’s says.
It then goes on to argue that, because of some typo, Baconalia became Bacchanalia in time, the Roman celebration of wine, which meant bacon fell to second place – and was eventually forgotten.
“But Baconalia is now back in a big way. Denny’s is writing a new chapter in the history of Baconalia. Over the next few months, we’re open to new and different ways to enjoy bacon. Bacon will take center stage,” Denny’s further says.
As part of this initiative to make bacon a star again, Denny’s has also introduced on its menu the Triple Bacon Sampler, the BBBLT Sandwich, Bacon Flapjacks and the Bacon Meatloaf.
