Actor’s violent outburst happened on the strangest movie set

Dennis Quaid isn’t some unprofessional rage monster, even if you might have been tempted to think he was based on his on-set meltdown included in the viral video that popped online a couple of days ago. It’s true that the rant took place on a movie set and that it was, as per his admission, the strangest set he’d ever been on.

However, it was for a Funny Or Die video. So yes, the rant was a prank, but it was an elaborate and convincing one for the comedy online platform.

“I AM A PRO!!!”

A clean version of the viral video is available below. It did not come with any context, so whatever was known of Quaid’s rant was inferred from the details in the video: namely that he was shooting for a movie or some other project, and that he had lost his temper with the director, threw a massive tantrum and then stormed off set.

His anger seemed genuine, so people assumed he must have been working on a serious movie since he could get so mad that on-set interruptions forced him to break character. He also sounded very much like Christian Bale who, in 2009, was publicly embarrassed by the leak of a rant on the set of “Terminator: Salvation,” in which he also lamented being surrounded by incompetents out to ruin his good work.

Quaid never really had a reputation for being this difficult to work with or with such a short fuse, but the video was convincing enough to make the possibility likely.

Funny Or Die comes clean

Luckily, we can continue thinking of Quaid as this amazing 61-year-old professional actor, who always has kind words for the people he works with. The rant was part of a skit for the online comedy platform Funny Or Die, as the video at the link will confirm.

We can’t embed it here because of graphic language, so *please be advised that discretion is recommended when viewing it.

This is probably one of the funniest videos ever to come out on FOD, even though many had a suspicion that “the rant” was fake. It includes actual horse poop, actual garbage, actual zombies, pussies and a “[expletive]ing baby,” so all those curses that Quaid hurls at the director turn out to be less aggressive than they seemed in the “leaked” video.

For the record, to those who believed the meltdown was part of a Jimmy Kimmel prank, the talk show host denied any and all involvement in an intro to his most recent show. You can see that in the second video below.
