Actor Dennis Hopper made a rare public outing the other day to attend the ceremony, which bestowed to him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor, looking thin and with bandages on his hand and eyebrow because of a recent fall, thanked his fans for the many years of love and support they dedicated to him and his career, People magazine informs.

Dennis, who is currently in the middle of a very nasty divorce, could not stop smiling throughout the ceremony that saw him as the 2,403rd “owner” of a star on the internationally renowned boulevard. Fellow actors Jack Nicholson and Vigo Mortensen were also in attendance and kept close by Hopper. After the ceremony, they also spoke to the media about how it was to work with the silver screen legend, praising him for his amazing qualities, both as a person and as an actor.

“Hollywood bestowed an honor upon the ailing Dennis Hopper on Friday, as the veteran Easy Rider and Blue Velvet leading man received the 2,403rd star along Hollywood Boulevard at a midday celebration in front of the landmark Egyptian Theatre. ‘I love all of you,’ the actor told a cheering crowd. ‘I just want to thank you, and that’s all I can do’,” People magazine writes of the ceremony. Dennis Hopper is battling prostate cancer.

“Viggo Mortensen, who costarred with Hopper in 1991’s The Indian Runner and 1993’s Boiling Point participated in the ceremony for the legendary rebel, 73, who appears thin from his debilitating battle with prostate cancer. Producer Mark Canton called Hopper ‘the coolest guy on the planet,’ while Mortensen told the audience what sets Hopper apart is ‘his ability to instill… fearlessness… as an artist and friend’,” the publication further says.

Though Mr. Hopper remained upbeat throughout the ceremony, his attorney recently revealed that the actor was too weak even to be deposed in the divorce case. In court documents filed earlier this week, the actor’s legal representative stated that the star, weighing a little over 100 pounds, “will never recover sufficiently to be subject to a deposition,” as we also informed you.
