Denise Richards Talks About Charlie Sheen’s Meltdown on The Today

Denise Richards, ex-wife of Warlock Charlie Sheen, is now promoting her autobiography “The Real Girl Next Door,” in which, as expected, she also talks about her marriage and divorce from the troubled actor. She also opened up a bit on the topic during an appearance on The Today Show.

Ever since she settled matters pertaining to the custody of the two daughters and child support with Sheen, Denise has constantly refused to bad-mouth him, regardless of what he did – and even of the things he said about her.

The same goes for her interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show. Speaking of Sheen’s erratic behavior these past few months, Richards says the Warlock is not the man she married, but the man she divorced.

Yes, there is a difference, she underlines, as the video below will confirm.

“The man I fell in love with is very compassionate, humble, has a wonderful heart, and the behavior that a lot of us saw in the last six months is not the person that I met and fell in love with,” Denise tells Lauer.

Nevertheless, her book does not bash Sheen. Neither does it offer personal details, like what exactly it was that convinced her that the marriage was over.

“The details of our actual divorce are private between Charlie and I. I get into, in the book, more about how I felt. I think a lot of women and men who are going through divorce can relate to the feelings of being angry and scared and guilty and whatever,” the actress says.

In fact, this would be the purpose of the book, Richards underlines: to help anyone going through a difficult time, be it a divorce, the loss of a loved one or career problems, by telling them that there is hope, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

She doesn’t set out to reveal private details about her life or about her relationship to Sheen or Richie Sambora. Instead, Richards wants to offer the world a glimpse into her life – and the things she’s been through in the few past years.
