Demy is the codename for one of the neatest kitchen gadgets announced in the last months – the digital recipe reader.
Despite the fact that a kitchen and a chef with no aiding books might not be quite the image you've gotten used to for so many years, Demy is indeed a piece of technology with more potential than meets the eye.
First of all, there's ultra-fast access to a specific recipe – we're talking a huge recipe dictionary in the palm of your hand, because Demy can store up to 2500 recipes and can be easily updated via the USB port. And then there's the possibility to download recipes from the Internet (
keyingredient) or load up your own creations. Not to mention that Demy can store photos so you can better guide yourself through the baking/cooking process.
This kitchen aid comes with a 7" touchscreen and an accelerometer so you can use it in pretty much any position, portrait or landscape, low or high, as you feel the most comfortable or as your tasks require. The splash-proof casing has been made from an "easy-clean" material and in case it gets stained, a damp cloth will effortlessly bring its shine back in an instant.
The other handy kitchen-related features inside the Demy are also not to be taken lightly: built-in cooking timers, a conversion tool and a most useful substitution database you'll surely use in case you run out of a certain ingredient. Even more, the font size is adjustable so you can read Demy's indications from afar, without having to move around too much.
This awesome kitchen helper should be available in late October and the announced price is just under
$300. Since the manufacturer has expressly underlined that limited sets will be available until January 2009, you should definitely hurry if you have a present idea cooking in your mind.
