The group members met Dr. Michael Mann and told him his theory is fraudulent

Dr. Michael Mann is the author of the “hockey stick” chart. He was invited at the Annual meeting of the Geological Society of America, hosted at the Minneapolis convention center. Mann showed up to support his findings, but he had to face the negative reaction of demonstrators.

The participants accused him of conducting a study based on false information, which was later on used to generate a deceiving theory regarding the global warming issue. The group of protesters sustained their belief, declaring that Mann's incorrect information has been deliberately placed in the study, and, as a consequence of this fact, the US and world economies might have suffered irreparable damages.

Mann has become famous worldwide after he came up with an innovative theory based on tree ring research, which later led to the “hockey stick chart”. He was also mentioned in the “Climategate” controversy, when apparently Mann involved Climatic Research Unit at East Anglia University in a scandal, after publishing an article containing false data in Nature Magazine.

It seems that, at that point in time, Mann thought he would get away with it after stacking some numbers when talking about the temperatures he was supposed to measure. When the actual number of degrees didn't match his theory, Mann replaced it with other ones, in order to support the study's main idea.

As a result, the scientists felt free to question the authenticity of Mann's entire experiment, since it might very well all have been nothing but a big scam. The “hockey stick” theory was used as central piece in Al Gore's “An Inconvenient Truth” and the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change's 4th Assessment, elaborated by the United Nations' in 1997

“We feel Dr. Mann's work has contributed to tremendous economic and societal harm,”declared Minnesota Majority president Jeff Davis.Even though both officials and demonstrators are waiting for some honest answers, Mann didn't present any. Despite his silence treatment, the blamed scientist affirmed the fact that, in some cases, researchers face the “attacks” coming from their opponents.

Davis has a very different opinion, regarding Mann's statement. “These demonstrators aren't being paid. In truth, they're paying people like Mann and they're turning our tax dollars against us, trying to get even more of our money,” concluded Davis.
