After nearly two years, the Demonoid site is back in working order

Demonoid is back and it’s actually real this time! Back in November, the popular site became active again, announcing that it was being rebuilt. “Coming back soon, please check back later,” a message posted on the site read.

Of course, “soon” turned out to be nearly five months later, but better late than never.

After nearly two years of silence, the Demonoid site is back online, although the tracker has been active for a few weeks already. Old users can still use the same login details and most of the old torrents are still listed on the site, TorrentFreak reports.

Demonoid.ph is back in working order, although if you mistakenly type in .com or .me, you’ll still get redirected to the right page.

“After some well deserved vacations, here we are, back online. The site is now cloud based and there have been many changes to the code. As a result, you might see some weird glitches here and there. We'll do our best to have everything working smoothly as soon as possible so please bear with us,” an announcement posted on the site reads.

The forums are back in working order as well, and the Demonoid staff is urging everyone to drop a hello. These continue to be separate from the main site, which means you need another set of registration details for them.

TorrentFreak reports that while users may be getting their hopes up that one of the most popular torrent trackers is back for good, there could still be some problems along the way. According to the site admins, this is just a pre-launch and Demonoid could go offline if something breaks.

As mentioned, the torrent site has been out of order for a while now, after its servers were taken down by the Ukrainian hosting company. This came as a result of a request made by the Interpol as part of an investigation into the site’s owners.

As most torrent sites, Demonoid has had a bumpy road up until now, jumping from domain to domain to avoid seizure. One of the first times it changed domains was from a .com to a .me address, back in 2010, as it sought to avoid action from the US government. In April 2012, the site moved to a .ph domain before going down in July.

It’s unclear if the site is still being run by the same group or who exactly is behind Demonoid now.
