Atlus is lowering the difficulty to celebrate the winter holidays

In order to properly celebrate the upcoming winter holiday season, Atlus has confirmed that a special ‘Pure White World Tendency’ event will be unleashed upon its Demon’s Souls role-playing game, which lowers the difficulty of the notoriously hardcore title.

Demon’s Souls made a name for itself due to its bone crushing difficulty, with those who wanted to experience it receiving a serious challenge, in the vein of classical arcade games from many years ago.

Now, as with last winter, Atlus has confirmed that it’s going to make a few changes to the game’s world through the Pure White World Tendency event.

This lowers the difficulty of the game while unlocking areas and items that couldn’t be accessed up until now. The event is already available and will last until January 2, 2012, so if you wanted to beat Demon’s Souls but couldn’t handle its harsh nature, this is the best time to do it.

The game is available only on the PlayStation 3, while its sequel, Dark Souls was released a few months ago for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
