Stardock says

After a long period in beta, Gas Powered Games' Demigod was released this week. Unfortunately, the game is now experiencing quite a few issues. Some players are reporting that they cannot connect to the multiplayer servers while others are saying that the matchmaking is not working properly, pairing up new players with more seasoned veterans.

These limit the enjoyment delivered by the game, but Brad Wardell, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Stardock, said that all of them would be solved shortly.

Wardell stated that “While I can say that there are, even as I type, many hundreds of people playing online together, mostly in Skirmish and Pantheon games, there are many hundreds of others having trouble connecting to people in custom games or having skirmish or pantheon doing something odd due to the server overload. We are working to address it and what I mean by that is that we intend to release another update this week to deal with as much of what we've found as possible.”

As a gesture of reconciliation with the gaming community, Wardell also announced that some of the people who had worked on the game would be playing multiplayer matches later this week, mostly in order to offer advice and tips to those who had played online and complained that the game lacked a proper tutorial section.

One of the main problems related to the Demigod launch was the fact that GamerStop, one of the biggest brick and mortar retail chains, decided to break the street date for the videogame and release it one day earlier. This forced Stardock to abandon a long weekend and get back to work, hastily creating the infrastructure needed to host many multiplayer matches.
