More details on Demi Moore's emergency hospitalization the other day are emerging: the substance abuse problem she needed treatment for seems to be the inhalation of a toxic quantity of nitrous oxide.

While her rep insists she's been hospitalized and is receiving treatment for exhaustion, word online has it her problems are more severe than that.

Various reports claim she's drinking again and has developed anorexia in the aftermath of the media scandal that forced her to seek separation from husband Ashton Kutcher.

There's also been a lot of talk about drug abuse, especially since she's not a stranger, having already been to rehab for cocaine addiction.

TMZ reports that Demi's current condition is due to the inhalation of a toxic quantity of nitrous oxide. Before the 911 call, the star and some friends were doing whip-its, it has been claimed.

“Demi Moore's friend called paramedics Monday night after the actress inhaled a dangerous amount of nitrous oxide. One of Demi's friends who was at her home told emergency workers Demi was doing whip-its. A whip-it is a street name for a type of nitrous oxide inhalant,” the report says.

For one reason or another, Moore had a bad reaction to it and started to have seizures.

“The friend said she became upset when Demi had a reaction to a whip-it and lapsed into semi-consciousness. It appears Demi had symptoms of a seizure – after inhaling the nitrous,” TMZ says.

The e-zine also notes that, of all the things she could have taken to relieve some of the pain she must be feeling right now, whip-its was probably the least likely variant.

“A whip-it is not a common drug among people of Demi's age and social status. It's typically used by younger people who are looking for a cheap thrill,” TMZ reports.

Demi's condition is unknown. She is believed to have went from the hospital straight to rehab, where she'll remain until she gets back on her feet.
