Actress is the face of the brand but hardly looks like herself in the photos

Demi Moore is again at the center of controversy but, this time, it's not her doing. The latest Helena Rubinstein ads, the brand whose face she is, come with a hardly recognizable version of the star we all know and love.

These days, few of the photos that make it out, whether for music, film and especially beauty, are not retouched.

However, the case of Demi Moore for Helena Rubinstein is more than retouching: it's Photoshop at its worst, as both BuzzFeed and the Daily Mail point out.

A new series of shots have been released the other day, two of which you can also see attached to this article.

They show a woman who, as beautiful as she might be, doesn't really resemble Demi. Understandably, this has sparked a lot of rumors of how another model was used – and then her face was altered to make her look like the actress.

If so, it would certainly not be the first time.

“Thanks to an over-zealous session with Photoshop and the omnipresent airbrush, the natural contours of Demi's face are gone: her strong, angular chin; the lines running from nose to mouth, the shape of her nose – all are entirely obliterated,” the Mail notes.

“The 49-year-old star is all but unrecognizable. In her place is a bleached, smooth, line-free version of Demi that looks more like a computer generated fembot than the familiar Hollywood actress with five decades under her belt,” adds the same publication.

As noted above, this isn't the first time that Demi's modeling gigs are brought into question.

In November 2009, for instance, Demi posed for W magazine in what was deemed yet another Photoshop disaster.

For starters, as we also reported at the time, a chunk of her hip was missing. Secondly, her body had been replaced with that of model Anja Rubik – and celebrity pundits immediately picked up on it, and denounced it to the world.
