The latest issue of Vulture comes with a Joe Jonas lengthy piece, in which he talks about his and his brothers’ start with Disney as the worldwide famous Jonas Brothers band, the pressure of growing up in the spotlight, drugs, and rebellion, and last but not least, his relationship with Demi Lovato.

Demi’s fans are taking issue with his discussing the romance in public and especially with his saying that it was Demi and good friend Miley Cyrus who pressured him into smoking weed for the first time, the Huffington Post reports.

“I felt like I needed to take care of her, but at the same time I was living a lie, because I wasn’t happy but felt like I had to stay in it for her, because she needed help. I couldn’t express any of that, of course, because I had a brand to protect,” Joe says of the ill-fated romance.

Admittedly, he felt like he needed to take care of her because Demi was going through a very rough while, what with drug abuse, self-harming, and dealing with issues of low esteem and an eating disorder.

Still, when she and Miley pushed him to smoke weed for the first time, as he claims it happened, he did it gladly because he wanted to experiment and, in the only way available to him at the time, to rebel against the powers that be at Disney.

As you may imagine, Demi’s fans are anything but pleased with these comments, especially since they come out of the blue and right as she just got her life back on track. If there’s anything that Demi doesn’t need right now is to have the past dragged back up into the open, they say.

Most Lovatics, as Demi’s fans are called, believe that Joe is out to get publicity for himself regardless of the cost, even if that means dragging Demi through the mud. They also accuse him of being a coward and are convinced that, if he had a shred of common sense left, he’d be dying of shame for what he’s done right now.
