A new celebrity feud might be brewing after comedienne Kathy Griffin said Demi Lovato was the “biggest celebrity douche” she could think of because of how much she’d been criticizing Lady Gaga for her number with a “vomit artist.” Demi’s fans have also gotten involved now.

It all started when, earlier this week, during a Q&A on Twitter, Kathy pulled no punches when she was asked who she considered the “biggest douche” celebrity, saying of Demi that she “should calm the [expletive] down bout Lady Gaga getting barfed on.”

Demi’s response came immediately, stressing once more that the only reason she picked on Gaga in the first place was that, by including the “vomit artist” in her shows, she was glamorizing eating disorders. Her fans, on the other hand, aren’t as careful about mincing their words.

Over the past few hours, Kathy has been retweeting some of the things Demi’s fans, aka the Lovatics, have been writing to her and to say that they’re not nice is the understatement of the century. Yes, Kathy isn’t always the nicest person around and yes, she does say things that might upset some, but no one “deserves” to get AIDS or cancer.

And this is exactly what some of the Lovatics have been wishing her. Others, it would seem, would settle if she just died (“please,” one is polite enough to write), either by putting her head in the oven or simply so, if she just dropped dead out of the blue.

Some Lovatics choose to let Kathy know that they consider her ugly and stupid, and ugly and stupid and then ugly and stupid some more. One in particular wishes she or he had a gun with just 2 bullets left, so that he or she could shoot Kathy twice, just to make sure she’s dead.

“Sharin a few actual tweets frm ppl who identify as @ddlovato fans.I DO understand these cant possibly represent the views frm all her fans,” Kathy writes. She seems determined not to grant their wish and just die, taking the controversy as she always does, with humor.

To her credit, unlike Lady Gaga who usually lets her fans viciously attack whoever dares to criticize their idol, Demi has already spoken out on the death threats, pleading with her Lovatics to go light on the hate because it’s not nice.

“Y'all gotta chill with sending hate towards other people. Regardless of what they say or do.. The cruel things some of you are saying can really, REALLY hurt people. It's called cyber-bullying and somethings should NEVER be wished upon EVER. No matter WHAT. It makes me so sad to see how mean people can really be after all I've spoken out about anti-bullying,” Demi writes.

It’s precisely this why Demi is so loved by her fans: she always stands up for the underdog and calls out bullies, and it seems that she’s willing to do so even when the bullies are the very people who buy her records and keep her in the spotlight.

The former Disney star continues her message by stressing that she’s grateful for the support, but that this is not how she wants to be supported, through hate, but love. Her final tweet on the topic reads: “@KathyGriffin No one should ever wish those things upon ANYONE. I apologize on others behalf. I do NOT approve of that at all. Sorry 4 that.”
