Only some months ago, many celebrity pundits were saying that Demi Lovato’s career was nearly over, having fallen prey to the Disney curse that also hit the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears pretty hard. She took that experience and put it in her new song, “Skyscraper.”

Fans must know that Demi was having a very rough time when she willingly agreed to seek treatment. She later revealed she was cutting herself and had been struggling with anorexia and bulimia for years.

Also after she came out of rehab, the Disney star said she had high hopes the experience would only make her stronger and that she’d manage to turn it into something useful for fans as well.

The result could be “Skyscraper,” her first post-rehab song, which premiered just hours ago. It’s inspirational, beautiful and, most importantly, carries a very strong message: nothing can bring Demi down.

You can check it out in full here.

Speaking of the song on her Seventeen blog, Demi reveals that she aimed to make it as personal as possible, because she wanted her fans dealing with the same kind of problems to hear it from someone whom they could relate to.

“This song is so special to me because it’s inspired by my journey and the struggles that I’ve dealt with this past year,” she says.

“I hope people are able to relate to it and realize that they are able to rise above and overcome any obstacle, no matter the circumstances, and shine like a skyscraper,” Demi adds.

Of course, that she’s managed to work through her issues by getting professional help doesn’t mean she’s out of the woods just yet, she continues.

“I am still on a personal journey dealing with my own issues each and every day, but the best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help,” Demi writes.

“My biggest wish for this song is that it’s able to inspire others and urge them to keep moving forward no matter what the odds,” the singer adds.
