She's been a judge on the reality show for the past two seasons, but now singer Demi Lovato announces that she won't be returning next year as she's focusing on her career.

The news was confirmed by the series creator Simon Cowell on Wednesday night. “I always knew she wasn't coming back because she's touring, so I knew that” Cowell said.

Lovato herself told reporters after the season's finale last night “I started the show being a singer and a musicion, and so, I'm going to go back to that. In 2014, I'm going to dedicate it entirely to music, touring and making a new album.”

The “Skyscrapper” singer joined the talent reality show during its second season in 2012, becoming a judge alongside Britney Spears. She made her return this year, but now it looks like it was her last on the show.

Meanwhile, British TV producer Simon Cowell has plans to return with another season of X Factor next year, despite the increasingly disappointing ratings. He did say he was planning some changes in the US version of the show, like airing it only once a week. Also, it's not sure whether Cowell will be on the judge panel anymore as he told reporters “I might have a different kind of role – we haven't discussed that yet.”
