Demi Lovato admits to cocaine addiction, says promoters gave her drugs and alcohol

For years, there has been a lot of speculation about Demi Lovato's drug use, with some reports even saying that, at one point, she was doing cocaine lines “like a pro.” In a new interview with Fabulous Magazine, she finally admits to it.

Since she completed a program in rehab for an eating disorder and other emotional issues, Demi has been very open about what landed her there in the first place.

However, not once did she address speculation about a supposed cocaine addiction – until now, in her latest interview with Fabulous Magazine.

“It’s something I don’t really want to talk about What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room,” Demi says of her cocaine addiction.

“I’d come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay ‘up’,” she further explains.

Asked where she could find drugs so easily, the pop star reveals that being a celebrity comes with all kinds of “perks,” this being one of them.

Basically, she was offered cocaine and alcohol in clubs, from promoters who wanted her to come back to their establishment, so they could have their name linked to hers in the press.

“Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my [expletive],” Demi explains.

“I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says ‘no.’ That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me,” she adds.

In the same interview, the star also talks about rehab and how it was the hardest thing she's done in her life, but one that, at the same time, was completely necessary – it was her “last chance,” as her parents warned her.

She still has insecurities and off days, but it's nothing compared to the hell she's been through.

Here is more from the interview.
