LinuxWorld is one of the best-known events among the open source community, which gathers technical leaders deploying Linux and open source solutions and industry leaders interested in the new tendencies of the enterprise technology.

This year, LinuxWorld will be held in San Francisco, California, at Moscone Center from 6 to 9 August. According to some sources, exciting good news is expected to be announced here. One such piece of news would be the famous Dell company announcing international sales of Ubuntu Linux consumer systems and also the fact that they would be offering Ubuntu to small business customers. Dell's official, Kevin Kettler, chief technology officer, would be speaking at LinuxWorld on August 7, where he is said to discuss about how Linux is moving towards broad deployment both on the data center and desktop side. Kettler will be talking about the continuing opportunities for innovation offered by Linux coupled with virtualization technology.

"Wanted to be clear that Dell does have plans to offer Linux to more consumers in additional locations outside the United States. More details to come later this summer. We will also offer Ubuntu to small business customers in the future" , wrote Lionel Menchaca, Dell's digital media manager on Direct2Dell website.

Once again, Dell satisfied its customers' demands. Soon after Dell pleased its US clients with the Ubuntu Dell machines offer, Linux users from all over the world asked for Dell's products in their countries too. After they've made all kinds of statements regarding the difficulty of accomplishing such a task, Dell was impressed by the few ten thousands users who signed the thread on IdeaStorm (Dell's forum) and now it seems they are about to succeed in it.

While Dell has declined to announce any sales figures for its new Linux laptops and desktops, sources indicate that the sales have exceeded expectations. The fact that they've also expanded their consumer Linux line makes me think this is true.

"From a Ubuntu perspective, we're now offering Ubuntu 7.04 to customers in the United States on the Inspiron 1420N notebook and the Inspiron 530N desktop. ", Dell officials said.
