Dell, one of the leading vendors of portable computer systems, plans to restructure its brands, making its XPS notebook lineup part of the recently introduced Studio products. According to several leaked slides, just recently posted, the Round Rock, Texas-based company is expected to release two new Studio XPS notebooks by the end of 2008.

According to the leaked images, which have been posted on the NotebookReview forum, Dell will cease to produce the XPS 1530 in November, while the company's XPS 1330 and 1730 notebooks will continue to be made, at least until the same month. Furthermore, also in November, Dell will introduce two new Studio XPS notebooks as well, dubbed Studio XPS 13 and Studio XPS 15 (although in one of the slides the latter is featured with the name Studio XPS 16).

The upcoming products will be designed with two separate market segments in mind. Basically, the XPS 13 will be meant to satisfy the requirements of those users looking for mobility, performance and quality in a sleek and slim design, while the XPS 15 will feature a glossy, elegant and refined design, targeted at multimedia users.

As far as specifications are concerned, there's not much to go on for the time being, except that both notebooks will feature slot-load optical drives, illuminated keyboards, glass floating displays with RGB LED option. Dell's Studio XPS 13 and XPS 15 will also boast Blu-ray drives, and provide HDMI ports, but the XPS 15 model will also equip a 16:9 aspect ratio display with a Full HD option.

Furthermore, some models will include support for WiMax and Hybrid SLI graphics for both Studio XPS 13 and XPS 15.

The company's roadmap also includes new Studio and Studio Slim desktop systems, which will be made available next month, while in October, Dell's Studio notebooks will be powered by the latest Montevina chipset.

Despite the lack of a more detailed specifications list, the new Studio XPS notebooks seem to be rather promising, especially where design is concerned.
