Even though Dell has mostly been focusing on launching newer, stronger and more efficient desktop and laptop personal computers, the company's professional display lineup hasn't exactly been overlooked. The hardware maker has already put on display its UltraSharp U2711 monitor for professional use. According to Engadget, the display solution is sharp, crisp and accurate, even compared with the company's other monitors.

The device is Dell's first-ever released WQHD monitor and has a native resolution of 2,560x 1,440 pixels. While this is already quite impressive for such a screen, Dell did not hold back in showing off the device's "billion-color depth and IPS technology." The 27-inch Dell UltraSharp U2711 has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a six-millisecond response time. In addition, the product makes use of 12-bit internal processing and even has 320 nits of brightness.

The monitor will perform very well in graphics-related applications and especially photo editing, as the monitor itself, Dell says, has a 110-percent color gamut and may operate in factory-tuned Adobe RGB and sRGB modes, along with a color-calibration report. Furthermore, the U2711 is, of course, capable of custom-color adjustment.

As far as connectivity goes, the device is equipped with all the regular and quite a few not-exactly-regular connectors that a monitor can be designed with. The UltraSharp U2711 has two DVI-D ports, one VGA output, an HDMI 1.3 connector, a DisplayPort, four USB ports and even an 8-in-1 card reader.

The only not-so-impressive characteristic of the display is, in the end, its overall aspect. The product is not exactly the most stylish or elegant of Dell's products, but it will be quite suited for those purchasers less interested in the bezel. The true-to-life pixel performance will likely make up for this minor downside.

The Dell UltraSharp U2711 WQHD monitor will become available next month and has a minor estimated retail price (MSRP) of $1,049.
