14 DAY TRIAL // As learned yesterday, Dell is readying the launch of a new Android-based tablet PC. While no specific info on the slate itself were unveiled until now, we had the chance to take a look at it in a photo that emerged on Thursday, and can see it again in the video embedded at the bottom of this article.
It appears that the leading computer maker does not want to keep the secrecy on the new tablet, but it wouldn't offer details on it either.
However, just as previously reported, the new device is expected to be none other than the the Looking Glass tablet PC spotted for the first time a few months ago.
As can be seen in the video below, available courtesy of Oracle (via Engadget), the slate resembles a lot with the older 5-inch Dell Streak device.
However, rumor has it that the internal circuitry of this slate has been upgraded too when compared to smaller counterpart.
Thus, we should expect it to include a not a 1-GHz processor, but a dual-core Tegra 2 chip, so as to offer enhanced performance levels.
Moreover, the operating system on the new tablet PC should be a newer version than what was present on the 5-inch Streak, which came to shelves with Android 1.6, and which is expected to be upgraded to Android 2.2 in the near future.
Beside the video below, and what Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell said about the slate during his keynote address at Oracle Open World in San Francisco, California, nothing much is known on this device.
However, some rumors place its arrival sometime in during the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, or in early 2011, depending on the OS version it should land on shelves with.
