The rumors about Apple's migration to Intel are far from over and new elements are added everyday to what we may call "the most surprising announcement of the year".
After all the problems regarding Apple's decision to switch to Intel were debated, now it seems to be the turn of other big names from the industry to say what they think about it.
According to David Kirkpatrick from Fortune Magazine, Michael Dell
wrote in an e-mail that (and we quote): "If Apple decides to open the Mac OS to others, we would be happy to offer it to our customers".
This statement, which isn't much of a surprise, follows just another surprising move from Michael Dell. About two weeks ago Dell decided to invest his own money in Red Hat.
Dell has a strong relationship with Microsoft, but on the other hand, the company is the largest PC manufacturer and from this position the Microsoft's support is far from vital to company business.
According to Cnet, the officials from Apple refused to comment on this issue, and an official spokesman from Dell, although confirming the existence of the e-mail, refused to give other information.
For the moment the only official information on Apple's plans to bring their acclaimed OS into the world of PCs is the statement made by Phil Schiller, Apple vice president, at WWDC. "We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac," he said at that time.
Maybe Apple has second thoughts about it? Or Michael Dell knows more than the rest of us?
