It's a shame that this is not available with any Ubuntu

The new Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition that ships with Ubuntu is a great piece of hardware, but another cool thing has been revealed about it. From the looks of it, the laptop comes with the greatest boot animation you have ever seen.

Boot animations on Linux systems have been used for a long time, but they have become increasingly rare in the past few years. Now that many of the PCs and laptops come with SSDs, you don't even get a chance to see the animation loading as everything is happening way too fast. Some distros, like Deepin Linux, for example, chose to keep a simple animation, but it's nothing to write home about.

Dell has gone the extra mile and the company has implemented a boot animation that takes forever to load, but it seems to show up before setting up the system. It's unclear how users knew to film it, but this is so great it doesn't even matter. The thing is Canonical should learn its lesson from this and implement something similar on regular Ubuntu machines. Such a boot animation can make you feel privileged to be using the system in the first place.

Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition is a beast

The new Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition has been out for some time now, but it's already made quite an impression. Even if it has a relatively small screen, it has some pretty impressive hardware.

"Choose the option that gives you 5.7 million pixels (276 ppi) for the ultimate screen performance with precise clarity and eye-popping details. There are over 2.5 times as many pixels as FHD, 5 times as many as HD and 4.4 times as many as the MacBook Air 13 (or other products with HD+ displays). It's also available with a Full HD non-touch display (1920x1080)," reads the official Dell website.

The cheapest version of the laptop comes with a 5th Generation Intel Core i5-5200U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD.
