Michael Dell says the company is on schedule with the release of its smartphones

Dell was reported recently to have had its latest smartphones rejected by carriers, yet it seems that the computer maker is on track with the release of the devices, at least this is what the company's CEO Michael Dell has recently stated in Taipei, although no specific details regarding the release have been made public.

The company was rumored to be planning on releasing a series of new smartphones to the market in the first half of the ongoing year, while the fact that carriers have rejected its handsets was stated to have determined it to push said smartphones back to the second half of the year. According to Michael Dell, as reported by the news site DigiTimes, the company is on track with the launch of the smartphones, which should come towards us later on this year. At the same time, Dell hasn't made any comments regarding said rumors.

As many of you might already know, the company already released Windows Mobile-based PDA devices on the market, and some sources with the Taiwan mobile phone maker suggested that Dell's future handsets would also run under Microsoft's mobile operating system. On the other hand, it seems that we should also be able to see the computer maker release on the market mobile phones that would run under Google's Android platform, the same sources say, although there are no details as to when these devices will become available.

The Chinese-language Commercial Times also states that Dell is working together with the Taiwan-based EMS firm Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) for the development of its future smartphones. We should be able to see the American company release its new handsets on the market before the end of the year, and, hopefully, we will also spot Android-powered handsets among them, and not only Windows Mobile-based ones.
