Computer maker Dell was rumored not too long ago to plan the near launch of a new smartphone on the market, one that would run under Google's Android operating system but would sport similar looks with the recently released Windows Phone 7-based Dell Venue Pro, and it appears that the device already received FCC approvals.

The smartphone is said to come with the name of Dell Venue attached to it, while being a carbon copy of the said Venue Pro, which should land on shelves later this year.

The handset was spotted at FCC with an impressive curved glass 4.1-inch AMOLED display, a recent article on Engadget reads.

At the same time, the news site suggests that the new Dell Venue smartphone might be none other than the “Thunder” Android handset that was spotted into the wild a few months ago.

Not to mention that rumors on this device emerged a few days ago as well, when it was suggested that it would be a Venue Pro without the Windows Phone 7 operating system on board (apparently without the “Pro” moniker too).

In addition to the necessary FCC approvals, the new smartphone received the Bluetooth SIG blessing too.

The two certifications were showing the same model name, V03B, which leaves little room for doubt on the matter.

The available documentation on this device suggests that it would arrive with support for 1900 and 850 MHz HSPA bands, which means that we might see it released on AT&T's network.

If indeed a twin brother of Venue Pro, the Android-based handset should include a 1GHz application processor, complemented by an 8-megapixel photo snapper, but with no QWERTY keyboard included into the mix.

No specific info on when the smartphone would make an appearance on shelves emerged for the time being, but rumor has it that it might not be too long before everything is made official, so stay tuned for more.
