On Monday, the first Windows Phone 7 handsets became available for purchase in the US, and it appears that Dell Venue Pro was one of them, even if it was originally staled for launch for a later date in 2010.

The handset was put on sale via Microsoft's Stores with a price tag of $199 attached to it, upon the signing of a new contract agreement with the wireless carrier T-Mobile.

However, the handset was also put on sale free of contract, case in which it was priced at $449.

Interestingly enough, it appears that using the past tense when it comes to the availability of this smartphone is correct, as it was selling like hot cakes on Monday, not to mention that only a small number of units was made available.

According to Engadget, those who didn't manage to get one handset from Microsoft yesterday would have to wait for the handset to become available via Dell, something that won't happen until next Monday, November 15th, though Microsoft Stores might also receive new stock.

What should be noted here is that Dell's website already list the phone, and also shows that there would be two versions of the device available for purchase, one packing 8GB of internal memory, while the other offering 16GB of storage.

For those who might have not encountered the Windows Phone 7 device from Dell until now, we should note that it is the first portrait slider to run under Microsoft's new mobile OS.

According to the phone maker, some of the main features the new device comes to the market with include:

- The stunning 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive, multitouch display enables for easier navigation. - With Office Mobile built in, you can operate on-the-go as seamlessly as you would at the office. - Take your gaming experience on the road with the phone that lets you play games on Xbox LIVE

Of course, there is also the Windows Phone 7 OS from Microsoft, with all of the features and services it comes to the market with.
