14 DAY TRIAL // After months of delays, Dell's Venue Pro is finally close to a release from UK retailer Clove, which has once again pushed back the availability date of the smartphone by ten days.
Even though the device has already been price tagged and listed on the retailer's web store, Clove mentions that the first stock arrives on March 26th.
The Dell Venue Pro is the first Windows Phone 7 launched by Dell. The smartphone was initially slated to launch in November and shipped out to the US in very limited numbers, but software bugs and production issues postponed the phone's worldwide availability.
In this regard, the Venue Pro launch was repeatedly delayed in Europe due to various software problems, the last one invoked by the manufacturer being an MMS issue.
This is one of the reasons that many customers have since lost interest in the device and turned their attention to other WM7 handsets equipped with a QWERTY keyboard, such as the HTC 7 Pro.
Venue Pro is the only WM7 smartphone to feature a portrait-QWERTY keyboard and one of the few to have such a large touchscreen display.
The phone comes with a 4.1-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.
The handset's screen is protected by Gorilla display and embeds an accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, multi-touch input method, as well as proximity sensor for auto turn-off.
Previously rumored as Dell Lightning, the Venue Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and runs on Microsoft's proprietary Windows Phone 7 platform.
It sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging and video-recording capabilities (720p).
The device is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 7 hours of talk time.
