Dell no longer sells the cheaper Bay Trail versions of the slate

Not so long ago we told you that a new slightly updated version of the Dell Venue 11 Pro was incoming. Instead of the Bay Trail Z3770 processor, the new model should have arrived with an Intel Bay Trail Z3795 quad-core processor.

Anyway, a month after this report, it appears that the Bay Trail variants of the Dell Venue 11 Pro are nowhere to be found on the company's website, at least in Europe. The folks over at TabTech are reporting that customers don’t have the option of picking up the cheaper Bay Trail version anymore.

And of course, there’s no trace of the anticipated Z3795 model we were talking about a few weeks ago. So people looking to grab a Dell Venue 11 Pro only have the option of a Core i3 or Core i5 model.

These products arrive with a chunky price tag, and even though they provide advanced performance, they will not appeal to customers who don’t have all that much to spend. Hence, the Bay Trail models were important alternatives, but for some obscure reason Dell has decided to remove this option.

Some accessories have apparently also been removed and this is not a good sign at all. The report goes on to mention that the Bay Trail tablets have disappeared from the stocks of various other retailers as well. Sadly, this seems to be a telltale sign that these tablets will soon be discontinued.

The current Dell Venue 11 Pro tablets were introduced back in October last year. Thus, since the slates are nearing their one-year birthday, it could be possible that Dell is looking to refresh the lineup, which is not something that should come as a surprise.

Dell has already refreshed its Venue Android tablet duo by adding the more powerful Intel Merrifield chip under the hood.

It is quite possible that Dell will follow a similar route with its Dell Venue 11 Pro. What if we end up seeing new models of these devices taking advantage of the Broadwell platform? In all possibility, we just might.

Judging by the long host of issues plaguing the Venue 8 Pro and 11 Pro tablets, Dell might be looking to make a move forward and step into a new dimension with the updated products.

This is the right place to remind you that Dell Venue 11 Pro users have been complaining of screen freezing issues and other abnormal activities. And this is not to mention the prolonged woes inflicted by the poor quality of the ActiveStyluses.
