The Dell’s Venue 11 Pro tablet is one of the company’s most popular business slate solutions. Now, the device marker is performing a small upgrade by bumping things up in the processor department and installing the 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 on top of it.

Since Dell’s roadmap leaked into the wild a few months ago we knew an update for the Dell Venue 11 Pro was coming. And now the new version has been spotted by TabTech in a retail listing.

The upgrade isn’t spectacular. Dell is now offering the services of an Intel Bay Trail Z3795 quad-core processor clocked at 1.59GHz, which is a bit higher than the current Bay Trail Z3770. But in Turbo Boost mode, the two reach the same 2.39GHz threshold.

Other than that, nothing changes. We still have the same 2GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage. With this latest version of the Dell Venue 11 Pro, the company should be able to directly compete with the Lenovo ThinkPad 10, which is a tablet that also includes a digitizer.

For those who don’t remember, the ThinkPad 10 tablet arrives with a 10.1-inch IPS screen that offers full HD resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels). Power comes from the same quad-core processor fitted with either 2GB or 4GB of RAM and backed up by 64GB / 128GB of internal storage.

So in the case of Lenovo, customers have more options in terms of storage and RAM.

Another aspect we should be highlighting here is if you’re thinking of purchasing the Dell Venue 11 Pro mainly because of its stylus support, you should be advised that users have been experiencing a lot of issues with the pens.

The problems escalated to such a degree that Dell had to pull them back and after a month or so issued replacements, which came with their own set of problems.

As for the ThinkPad 10, the tablet has been made available on the market, not so long ago, so we don’t have enough feedback on how the pen functions.

The Lenovo ThinkPad can be purchased without the pen, as well. The tablet is also available with a tablet dock and two keyboard options.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro also offers case and keyboard companions, so you might be faced with a though choice trying to decide which one of these two tablets might be the best option for you.

Well, for the time being the new Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet hasn't been officially announced so there’s enough time to ponder about it.
