New info about the unannounced Dell Thunder has leaked and position the smartphone close to a Q4 release. The device initially appeared back in April in a official Dell document, which also mentioned a possible release of an LTE version for next year.

After the successful launch of Dell Streak and Aero, which are now available from AT&T carrier, a new Dell smartphone has been pictured and videoed by the guys over Engadget.

Even though it has been mentioned a few months ago and we knew most of its data sheet and look, the device still looks impressive.

Dell Thunder can be placed between the Streak and Aero, as it features a 4.1-inches OLED capacitive touch screen, supporting a 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

The smartphone boasts a 8-megapixel monster camera with LED flash, which also features 720p video capture capabilities.

The prototype unit is running a vanilla Android 2.1 OS, but this might be subject to a change, if Dell decides to implement the 2.2 version of the operating system out of the box. Otherwise, those buying the device might receive an upgrade in the future.

Further, Thunder is supposed to carry Dell's proprietary custom UI, which will be included over the Android OS, but we're not that sure.

Even if it's impressive, a high number of users prefer to receive their Android devices “clean”, so a “disabling” option for the skin would be very welcomed.

The device will be powered by a huge 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery, but there's no info regarding its lifetime at the moment.

While the phone is expected to be launched in Q4 2010 through AT&T, we don't have any idea about its pricing yet. But, as mentioned above, it will most likely be cheaper than the Streak, but more expensive than Dell Aero.
