As the end of the year approaches, more Dell Streak users around the world are receiving their share of Android 2.2 Froyo. The software update started rolling out several weeks ago for unlocked devices into the wild, and has just arrived at Optus Australia. Since Dell announced officially that the software solution would arrive on devices available at various wireless carriers around the world pretty soon, it was only a matter of time before Optus made an official announcement on the matter.

Now, all those Dell Streak owners who are Optus customers can download the software solution on their devices through hitting settings and searching for system updates.

All new and existing Dell Streak customers can benefit from the new software update, Dell notes on its website, adding that the Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS would offer a faster, richer experience to them.

“Dell Streak with Android 2.2 includes the Stage User Interface (UI) and a collection of widgets that bring your content such as music, photos and email to your homescreen,” the company notes.

“It even includes Adobe Flash 10.1 support for the full mobile Web experience and the capability to use your Dell Streak as a portable WiFi hotspot that can be shared with up to eight other devices,” Dell continues.

Optus and Dell Australia decided to make the software solution available for Streak devices as and over the air update, and users would be notified on its availability for their specific handsets.

According to Ausdroid, Some of the main features that the new update would bring forth include:

- SWYPE Pre-installed - Backup & Restore Application - Live Wallpapers (of course) - Native MultiTouch Support (was only in the Browser for 1.6) - Faster Performance

Another appealing feature would be the ability to record video at 720p, along with Flash Player 10.1 support, and more, the news site also notes. Additional info on the tablet PC and on the software it runs under can be found on Dell's website here.

Dell Streak was launched on the market with Google's Android 1.6 operating system on board, but Dell managed to update it to the new Android 2.2 Froyo OS only several months after the initial launch.
