The versatile 5-inch Android-based tablet has just been introduced in Romania, which is now the third country that gets the device, after U.K. and U.S.A.

One of the major online stores in Romania has exclusivity over Dell Streak for a few weeks, and sells the device for no less than $770 USD.

I'm not sure about Dell's intentions, but putting the device on sale for such a high price on emerging markets might seem a little bit unwise.

I fail to understand why UK and US users can get Dell's Streak tablet so much cheaper than Romanian users.

I hope the price will drop consistently after the exclusivity period is over, but this will probably depend on the number of units sold during this period.

Dell Streak is a Mobile Internet Device (MID), also known as 'tablet', that features phone capabilities.

The Android-based tablet comes with a 5-inch capacitive touch screen with multi-touch support, 5.0-megapixel camera, 3G support (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS with A-GPS, Digital compass, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, 1530 mAh Li-Ion battery and secondary camera for videocalls and snapshots.

Dell Streak is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor and runs Android 1.6 OS. The latter is the main drawback of the device, as you will miss lots of the features offered by Android 2.1 or 2.2.

Further, the device also features Dell's customized skin, which seems pretty solid and reliable.

Those visiting or living in Romania will be able to get the device only online, but word is that Vodafone will soon start selling the device on a special offer.

A Dell's official also stated that the company is already working on an Android 2.2 (Froyo) update, which will be pushed by the end of the year.

Dell plans to launch at least two more tablets in Romania by the end of the year, both will have higher screen sizes.
