During the Citrix Synergy conference, Dell CEO Michael Dell has officially announced the company's plans of making its 5-inch Dell Streak tablet (also known as Dell Mini 5) available for purchase on various markets around the world during summer. The company's CEO also unveiled that the Mini 5 would be put on sale in the United States via AT&T's airwaves, confirming a series of previous rumors on the matter.

According to Michael Dell, the 5-inch Dell Streak is expected to become available in Europe too, and it will be released on the airwaves of wireless carrier O2. Moreover, it seems that the mobile device, which is powered by Google's Android mobile operating system, will arrive on the old continent as soon as next month.

“This [the Mini 5] will be available starting next month, first with our partner O2 Telefonica in Europe, then later this summer with our pretty good partner here in the United States, AT&T,” is what Michael Dell reportedly stated during the Citrix Synergy conference in San Francisco.

The Dell Streak is a tablet-like handset that comes with a built-in GSM module with 3G support, while running under the Android OS. The device also packs a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, as well as Wi-Fi connectivity options, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 1.300mAh battery, and more. In other words, all the features that one would usually find in an Android-based device are present on Dell Streak, yet at a much larger size.

According to eweek, Dell gave a demonstration of the device during the conference, and stated the following: “The device we use to access our information shouldn't matter anymore. Whether it's a phone, or a notebook, a netbook or a desktop PC, your client image can follow you everywhere. Actually, I've got a new little device here. I've got my Citrix Receiver on here; we can log in and capture our desktop. I've got six different desktop planes here, I've got my Android applications, I can see what's going on at Twitter and Facebook.”
